What is Brick Bot?

Hey, I'm Brent. I'm the guy who made Brick Bot.

Brick Bot is a software which gives you progressively harder sentences to translate in a language you're trying to learn. If you struggle more with certain words, you get more sentences with those words in them to practice them more. If you excel at certain words, you study those less.

On a different level, Brick Bot is a culmination of my efforts to create the fastest language learning system in the world, particularly for reading in this case.

See it in action

What makes it fast?

  • Brick Bot teaches you to read in your target language by having you actually read in that language. You're best off practicing the skill you're trying to develop.
  • The sentences that Brick Bot generates for you are made using a fancy algorithmic system to determine which sentences are most effective for you to practice at any given point in time.
  • Brick Bot only has you practice words in the context of other words that you already know, keeping you just at the edge of your abilities for optimal development.

Who is Brick Bot for?

Motivated language learners. It's not an easy task, and will certainly take hours of practice. Language learning is fun, but also hard. If you just want to have fun, go download the bird app.

Ideally you're someone who is pretty "agentic" and keen on learning things yourself. If something happens with Brick Bot that confuses you, you don't hesitate to open ChatGPT or Claude and ask for help (I do this often).

Because I'm just one guy, Brick Bot is optimized for somebody who already has a fundamental understanding of a language and maybe has already taken an introductory language course, but, if you're motivated enough, it really shouldn't be too hard to start from scratch. You may just have to watch some youtube videos or ask ChatGPT or Claude about some concepts you don't understand.

Why vocabulary?

For languages similar to english, grammar is not the bottleneck, but vocabulary. Grammar is important, and I hope to support it in the future, but for now, grammar can be picked up by doing a lot of repetitions and asking ChatGPT / Claude when you get confused.

What languages?

I made Brick Bot for German, and am currently adding support for French. In the beginning, I'm keen on any languages with similar structure to English, so Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese are on my radar. Let me know if you're interested in these.

How can I try it?

I'm currently running Brick Bot in a closed beta. There's a lot of stuff to get right, and I'm not keen on it being public yet. If you're eager to give it a try, shoot me an email (brentably@gmail.com) or a DM on Twitter (@BingBongBrent) and I'll be happy to get you set up.
